As you know, we haven't seen our friend Nelson in quite some time. We've learned that brown bears hibernate and, since Nelson is brown and he's a bear, we figure he's hibernating. Today, we went outside to look for him. We walked all through the woods around our school. The kids are anxious to tell you what we found!!
We found a den in the woods. We listened for snoring. We called Nelson's name. We did not find Nelson.
We found another den. It had an opening that looked like a door. We listened for snoring again. We called Nelson's name. We did not find Nelson.
We found a hollow tree. It had a hole. The hole was the perfect size for Nelson. We knocked on the tree. Nelson did not answer.
We were a little sad, disappointed and mad that we didn't find Nelson. We are hoping he will come back in the spring.
