Spring is FINALLY Here!

The owl man came to Chamberlin.  He had some owls that he wanted to show us.  He had two owls.  When the owls were in the boxes, they didn't make any noise. We learned about different species of owls.  Both of the owls were hit by cars and needed help to get better.  We laughed when the owls pooped on the floor in our classroom!

We had breakfast with our moms.  It was Mother's Day.  We wrote books all about our moms.  We read the books to everyone at the breakfast!  We sang to our moms.

We made these flowers for our moms.  They had pictures of us when we were babies.

We made a Mom Museum in the hall.  We made paintings of our moms.

We love our moms!

We had a fun time at the Fun Run!  We ran fast!  We ran in a circle on the playground.  Whenever we ran around one time, one of the teachers would mark our shirts.  We counted how many laps we ran.

When your teacher shops on Amazon....

We had so much fun with these BIG boxes!!

The Fun Continues in Room 3!

We are back after some technical difficulties!   The children were so excited to get back to our blog.  It was fun reliving "old" memories from way back in February.  Here's what they had to say...

These are Valentine's Day bees.  The people who made them were some kids from room 3.  They were kindergarteners.  They say "BEE KIND."

On Valentine's Day we ate breakfast together.  Our moms and dads came too.  We opened our Valentine cards.

Bowen gave us mustaches in our Valentine cards!  They were funny!

Addie and Sean made Abraham and Mary Lincoln out of Legos.

We did some special projects for Presidents' Day.  We made George Washington and Abe Lincoln's log cabin.

During Readers' Workshop, we read books from our book boxes.  We are really great readers.

We met the Tricky Teens: 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19.  They were having a problem.  10 was having a party and all of the Tricky Teens were invited EXCEPT for 15.  But it was all a misunderstanding.   We were ALL invited to the party.

We saw Champ at our assembly!  He was fun and silly!

Taylor and Lilly used their bodies to make the letter M.

100 Days of Learning and Fun !

It was the 100th day of school! We were so excited and happy.  All of the kindergarteners had a parade.  We had instruments.  We marched all around the school and played loud music!  We went into classrooms too! It was fun!

To celebrate the 100th day of school, we played Chutes and Ladders.  It has 100 spaces.  To win the game you have to get to 100.

We played a counting game.  You had to start counting on the green cube and stop at the red cube.

We made Fruit Loop necklaces.  We counted Fruit Loops by 10's to get to 100 then we put them on some dental floss and made a necklace. By the end of the day, all that was left was the dental floss.

We made crowns for the 100th day of school. We colored them and it was so much fun.  We took pictures of everybody with their crowns on.

Bowen is counting by tens to make a pom pom with 100 pieces of yarn. He is very refocused.

Staying Warm in Room 3!

We have been keeping busy in our classroom.  This is the time of year when we start to see tremendous growth in kindergarten.  Academics are starting to "kick in" and students are learning so much!  This month,  we are learning that we have "reading super powers."   Students have pracited pointing to each word as they read, checking the picture for clues, and using high frequency words ("SNAP WORDS") to read fluently.  It's so much fun to watch them beam with excitement as they become readers!

We have also been studying the habits of animals native to Vermont during these cold winter months.  We were surprised to learn how many animals actually remain active during the winter.   Don't take my word for it, though.  Let's see what the kids have to say!

And now a word from the kids...

We love to play with the veterinarian's office so much.  It is a new toy for choice time.  We got it from Amazon.  There is a puppy and a cat.  We help them get better.

This is our bulb plant.  We want it to grow soon.  It will be a big tall flower.  We will have to wait a while until it gets to be a big flower.  Every day we look to see if it is getting greener or bigger.

One day, during snack, we got a phone call from the office.  Ms. Dattilion said there was a package for us!  We got these Super Hero capes from Mabel!  We are learning about reading super powers.  When we unveil a new super power, we wear our capes!

We learned what animals do in  the winter.   First, we hunted all over Chamberlin School looking for the animals.  Then we read about them.   We colored the animals and sorted them out.  We were surprised about the frog.  They get completely frozen in the winter and then they melt...well..thaw in  the spring.
